Afghan President's senior adviser on reconciliation affairs Mohammad Omar Daudzai will arrive here on a four-day visit today (Tuesday) to hold talks with senior Pakistani authorities on the latest peace efforts with Afghan Taliban. Diplomatic sources said that the top Afghan official would meet Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi and other senior civil and military leaders. During his stay in Islamabad from January 8 to 11, the Daudzai will discuss the Afghan peace process with senior Pakistani authorities.

They said that the top Afghan official may request Pakistan's assistance to persuade the Taliban for the talks with the Afghan government in the upcoming session in Saudi Arabia. After the last month talks United States in Abu Dhabi, the Afghan Taliban refused to be part of the next week talks in Saudi Arabia if Afghan government officials were invited to the dialogue, as the group is only ready to hold talks with the US.
